Musical Theatre Instructor/Professor

Teach a variety of courses within the discipline of Musical Theatre inline with expertise. These may include courses relating to Vocal Performance, Acting, Auditioning, and/or Musical Theatre History, and/or Senior Capstone projects.


Participate in department and curriculum planning, development, and assessment. 


Assist in maintaining Theater Department facilities, property, and equipment through proper use, and instruction of students regarding proper use. Maintain adequate office hours on weekdays during the academic year.


Serve in a directorial position for the mainstage productions of the Department of Theatre and Dance as needed. 


Communicate in a professional and punctual manner regarding creative endeavors. Hold rehearsals as needed during appropriate time frames. Guide students in their assigned roles outside of rehearsals as needed. Attend a minimum of one performance of all department productions.


Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the Theater Department. This includes, but is not limited to, attending events that require travel. 


Honor the objectives of the institution and abide by the rules and regulations and Standard of Conduct contained in the Administrative Policies & Procedures Manual and the Faculty Handbook. Basic values such as honesty, integrity, cooperation, promptness, and dependability are required and are an important part of each faculty member’s performance review. Attend Convocations and other on-campus events.


Required qualifications:

1.     Prospective faculty members must have a terminal degree in their respective field (Voice, Musical Theatre, etc.) and/or equivalent professional experience.

2.     Evidence of excellence in teaching (both within and beyond the classroom).

3.     Culturally responsive pedagogy emphasizing access, diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational settings.


Preferred qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have three years of teaching experience in higher ed as well as professional experience in their respective field.
