The School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for a Technical Director beginning January 1st, 2024. This is a short term (one semester) staff position, with some teaching. The Program typically produces a mainstage Theatre production, a Dance show, and supports the UL Opera’s production, each semester. Qualified candidates may also be invited to apply for a permanent position.

Responsibilities include managing the construction and execution of scenery, lighting, sound, and properties design for departmental productions, upkeep on production spaces and assets, supervising paid and unpaid student work crews, and teaching stagecraft and practicum classes each semester. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled. 

Requirements:

Professionalism, collegiality, with excellent organizational and communication skills.  Knowledge of/demonstrated expertise in technical direction, scenic carpentry, electrics, rigging, and sound, CAD and other design programs.  Preferred qualifications include MFA in Design or Technical Direction, Theatre teaching at the college level, and 2+ years of professional experience.
