interest areas -> stage movement
What is the importance of Stage Movement in SETC?
The purposes of this interest area are to promote and improve the appreciation, study, teaching and practice of stage movement and theatrical dance, and to provide a forum for the exchange of information and ideas about stage movement, theatrical dance and related topics. This encourages exchange between both SETC members and other movement professionals. Every year the Stage Movement Committee provides programming in areas such as, but certainly not limited to, physical acting, mime, Alexander Technique, Laban, stage combat and dance. The presiders and presenters of these programs volunteer their time to share their knowledge and experience with aspiring and established actors and directors, drama club leaders, acting teachers, other movement professionals and educators who attend the convention.
Who is involved in Stage Movement?
Membership in this committee consists of all members of SETC who have an interest in stage movement. It is a special concern of this committee that we strive to address movement concerns and issues pertinent to all constituent areas of SETC and we therefore invite and encourage members from all divisions to be active in the committee.
Program emphasis at the Annual Spring Convention:
Programming consists primarily of "hands on" workshops and lecture/demonstrations that provide an opportunity for members of SETC to participate in and experience movement topics that are presented and explored at the Annual Spring Convention.
